Father James Crisman, who has been reassigned as a pastor in St. Peter Parish in Greeley from his job as Vocations Director, said that the prospect of moving has almost become normal to him. In fact, he related it to every Christian’s pilgrimage to Heaven.
“It’s constantly part of our lives as Christians. It’s not always easy, it’s not always nice, and then sometimes it’s great,” Crisman said. “There’s definitely a pilgrimage element because it’s leaving behind what’s familiar and entering into a new way of life, a new perspective on the gospel.”
Father Crisman said the best way people can welcome their new priest is to pray for him. Specifically, he asked that they pray for him to be holy.
“Pray for him, pray for him, pray for him. Pray for your new pastor. Pray for your new priests,” Crisman said. “Pray for holiness, because then the joys will be deeper and the challenges will be more perfectly hidden in the love of Jesus.
