Catholic Charities “a valuable partner,” says Mayor Hancock

During a visit to Mi Segunda Casa Head Start, Mayor Michael Hancock praised Catholic Charities as a “valued stakeholder” and “valuable partner” for the city.

Through Mi Segunda Casa, Catholic Charities provides programs for Denver’s Great Kids Head Start. Charities is one of five agencies that provide these programs.

The mayor toured the facility in January, and took a moment to speak with Larry Smith, the president and CEO of Catholic Charities in the Archdiocese of Denver.

“Catholic Charities has perennially been a partner in the city – well, throughout the region, quite frankly – in helping us to develop smarter, healthier young people,” said Hancock.

“You’re a valuable partner in Denver with regard to child care, preschool, early Head Start,” the mayor said, adding that Charities is also a “valuable stakeholder.”

“Please keep up the good work, and thanks for being our partner,” he said.

Smith told the Mayor that Catholic Charities is “looking forward to continuing our partnership with the city.”
