WATCH: The Spirit of a Pilgrim

Writer: Denver Catholic StaffDenver Catholic Staff

Ann Sieben has reached a milestone most others can only dream of. The mendicant pilgrim has walked more than 50,000 miles – that’s double the circumference of the earth!

It all started in 2006 with her decision to walk the Camino de Santiago in Spain for 11 days until she reached the shrine of the Apostle St. James in the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. Since then, she’s walked from holy site to holy site, embracing the life of a pilgrim, carrying very little and relying on the kindness of strangers for places to stay. During the pandemic, she found a nice cave to hole up in, in the desert, only venturing out for water.

Her stories are endless, and you can hear more of them firsthand on Saturday, October 21, at Good Shepherd Parish in Denver. Attendees will explore the spirituality of pilgrimage, find out about different types of pilgrimage, meet other pilgrims, learn about upcoming pilgrimages and celebrate Ann’s remarkable accomplishment!
