Shia LeBeouf’s journey to the Catholic Church came to a beautiful climax Dec. 31, when he was formally received into the Church with the Sacraments of Confirmation and First Communion, administered by Bishop Robert Barron at Old Mission Santa Inés Parish in Solvang, California — the very same parish he showed up at when he was preparing to portray Padre Pio.

It was a Denver-based Capuchin, Brother Jude Quinto, O.F.M. Cap., who introduced LeBeouf to the Gospels and accompanied him early on as he became enamored with the person of Jesus Christ. Brother Quinto was present for the LeBeouf’s reception into the Church, and Bishop Barron’s Word On Fire ministry put together a video in which they talk with Brother Quinto, LeBeouf and others about this prodigal son’s return home to the loving embrace of Christ.
