WATCH: Coloradans have a right to know: Vote NO on Amendment 79

Writer: Denver Catholic StaffDenver Catholic Staff

Ballots have arrived! This is a crucial moment in the fight for the dignity of life in Colorado.

Serious changes to our state constitution are hidden in Amendment 79’s seemingly simple language.

Amendment 79 bans parental notice laws: a minor could be pressured into an abortion without her parents’ knowledge, as the “government shall not deny, impede, or discriminate against the exercise of that right [to abortion].” By eliminating all commonsense safeguards against abortion, Amendment 79 allows for abortion through the ninth month of pregnancy, even on healthy mothers with healthy babies.

By removing Section 50 of Article V of the Colorado constitution, this amendment forces taxpayers to pay for abortions for in-state and out-of-state women.
