Sisters invited to appreciation day

Religious sisters will have their day during an annual appreciation luncheon in honor of their vocations and service to the Archdiocese of Denver.

All sisters are invited to the Denver Serra Club-sponsored Religious Sisters Appreciation Day 11 a.m.-1:45 p.m. April 18 at Risen Christ Church.

“We want to do something for the sisters,” said Jim Hilger, chairman of the Religious Sisters Appreciation Day. “We want them to have a good time.”

Sisters of all orders will gather for Mass at the church followed by a social hour and luncheon. With the help of donors, sisters receive a gift bag and a check. The sisters also draw for prizes that reach into the hundreds of dollars.

“Each year we have managed through the kindness and generosity of our donors, both Catholic and Protestants, to give more each year to the sisters,” he said.

The Denver Serra Club has hosted the day for more than 20 years to support religious vocations.

Mass will be celebrated by Father Doug Grandon at the church at 3060 S. Monaco Parkway. For more information or to make a donation, email hilgerjrjr@msn.com.
