Father Roger Leo Lascelle, a longtime priest of the Archdiocese of Denver, entered into eternal life on March 20 at the age of 77 in Manchester, New Hampshire.

Born on November 27, 1947, in Concord, New Hampshire, to Roger Joseph Lascelle and Frances Theresa Connor (both of whom predeceased him), he was the beloved brother of Robert Lascelle, Denise Eiteljorge and Diane Katz.

Father Lascelle’s journey in the service of God and his Church was one marked by steadfast devotion, humility and an unwavering commitment to the spiritual well-being of others. A member of the Congregation of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart from 1962 until 1973, Father Lascelle felt the call to further serve as a priest. After years of rigorous academic and spiritual formation at institutions such as Spring Hill College, the Aquinas Institute of Religious Studies, and St. Mary’s Seminary College, Father Lascelle was ordained to the priesthood on June 18, 1977, at St. Paul Cathedral in Worcester, Massachusetts.

After 10 years of service in the Diocese of Worcester, Massachusetts, Father Lascelle came to serve in multiple pastoral roles throughout the Archdiocese of Denver. His priestly ministry included assistant pastor assignments at Light of the World in Littleton, Holy Name in Steamboat Springs, and the Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Denver. His pastorships took him to Holy Family in Meeker, St. Ignatius of Antioch in Rangely, St. Michael in Craig, St. Joseph in Fort Collins, and St. Patrick in Minturn — all communities that benefitted from his deep faith, gentle spirit and pastoral care.

Father Lascelle’s compassion extended beyond his parishes, as he also served part-time as a chaplain at Mullen High School in Denver.

In 1994, Father Lascelle was incardinated into the Archdiocese of Denver, a home where he continued his tireless work until his retirement in June of 2017, at which time he returned to his family roots in Manchester, NH.

Even after his retirement, Father Lascelle's legacy of faith and commitment lived on. He touched the lives of countless individuals, imparting the love of Christ to all who encountered him. His ministry was grounded in a profound love for the people he served, and he devoted his life to fostering their relationship with Christ, teaching the Gospel and providing spiritual guidance in all corners of his diocesan assignments.

Father Lascelle was predeceased by his parents, Roger Joseph and Frances Theresa, and is survived by his siblings, Denise, Robert, and Diane, as well as his mother’s sister, the Connor family in Suncook, NH, and spiritual children who were blessed by his love and ministry.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Church, Allenstown, NH, on March 25, 2025, at 12:00 PM. Visitation will take place prior to Mass, starting at 11:00 AM.
