Remembering Deacon Bill Jordan

After years of ministry, Deacon Bill Jordan passed away on June 6, 2024.


Deacon Bill Jordan’s passion was education, not only as a Catholic educator but also as Principal of St. Joseph Catholic School in Amarillo, TX, after he was ordained in the Diocese of Amarillo on June 1, 1996.


Being a Colorado native, Deacon Jordan returned to Colorado to minister in the Archdiocese of Denver in 2003 as the Deacon at St. Augustine Parish in Brighton, also serving for many years as the Director of Religious Education at St. Augustine. He ministered as the Chaplain for the St. Augustine Knights of Columbus, Legion of Mary and the Catholic Daughters of America. He retired from ministry in 2021. He was a fourth-degree Knight of Columbus.


“Sharing the Ministry of the Word was Deacon Jordan’s charism. He loved sharing Scripture with his students and lay faithful in the apostolates he served,” said Deacon Ernest Martinez, Director of the Diaconate for the Archdiocese of Denver. 


Deacon Jordan was born on February 16, 1945, in Pueblo. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Education, Speech & Theatre. He served in the U.S. Army for 3 years. Deacon Jordan was never married.


A Funeral Vigil was held on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, and the Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, and celebrated by Bishop Jorge Rodríguez, PhD. Both liturgies were held at St. Augustine Parish in Brighton, CO.
