It’s that time of year again to celebrate Catholic education in the United States! Catholic Schools Week is happening this week, Jan. 28 – Feb. 3, and is a week-long celebration that recognizes the excellence and contributions of Catholic education to society.
On Jan. 16, the Fort Collins City Council and Mayor Jeni Arndt honored principal Donna Bornhoft and pastor Father Simon Kalonga of St. Joseph Catholic School in Fort Collins for their dedication to Catholic education with an official proclamation of Catholic Schools Week for the city. St. Joseph’s is the only Catholic school in Fort Collins.
“We are grateful that the city of Fort Collins is recognizing our National Catholic Schools week,” Bornhoft said during the meeting.
The proclamation acknowledged Catholic education’s longstanding history of over two centuries, emphasizing its commitment to academic excellence, moral values and spiritual growth, all of which seek to form responsible citizens and faithful community leaders. Throughout the week, Catholic schools and communities will participate in Masses, prayer services, open houses, community service projects and other fun festivities, all centered around this year’s theme: “United in Faith and Community.”
