“Mary” film gracing Denver screens

A screening of the film “Mary of Nazareth” that depicts the life of Christ’s mother is coming to theaters in Colorado next month.

The Ignatius Press feature film depicting the life of Mary from childhood to Jesus’ resurrection will be shown 10 a.m. Dec. 7 at Cinemark Tinseltown-World Arena, 1545 E. Cheyenne Mountain Blvd. in Colorado Springs. A screening is also scheduled 10 a.m. Dec. 14 at Bel Mar Theater, 440 S. Teller St. in Lakewood.

The 153-minute film captures the essence of Mary’s faith, her unique relationship with Christ, and her suffering amidst his passion and death. The story was filmed in Europe and is in English.

Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI reportedly screened the film and was touched by the portrayal of Mary.

The film is unrated but considered PG (Parental Guidance Suggested, appropriate for ages 11 and up) for some acts of violence.

Tickets may be purchased online by the screening host, the Colorado Catholic Herald newspaper, at www.coloradocatholicherald.com for $10 each starting Nov. 11.  For details, call 719-866-6492.
