Join Bishop Jorge Rodriguez for a special Mass celebrating World Day of Migrants and Refugees at Queen of Vietnamese Martyrs Catholic Parish. The Mass will “travel the globe” and incorporate elements from various Catholic cultures around the world. A festival immediately follows Mass with cultural dances, music and food.
World Day of Migrants and Refugees has been celebrated by the Catholic Church since 1914; the first being held shortly before the outbreak of World War I. It’s an occasion for Catholics to express concern for people on the move, and to pray for the challenges they face and increase awareness about the opportunities that migration offers.
For 2019, Pope Francis has chosen the theme “It is not just about migrants”, encouraging those already established in a society to be welcoming of those who are newly arrived.
