Cathedral Basilica to host Divine Mercy chaplet

The image of the sacred heart of Jesus will be at the Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception starting Holy Saturday when the church will begin a Divine Mercy novena.

Leading up to Divine Mercy Sunday, April 12, faithful may attend the church to participate in the novena and pray for Christ’s mercy. The Cathedral Basilica will be one of several parishes hosting the Divine Mercy novena that can be traced to a 19th century Polish nun, St. Faustina Kowalska, who wrote about revelations she received about Christ’s mercy. The devotion spread throughout the world in the 1930s and is a reminder to faithful to trust in God’s mercy.

The schedule for the novena at the Cathedral Basilica is as follows: 4 p.m. Holy Saturday, 6 p.m. Easter Sunday, 5 p.m. April 6-10, 4 p.m. April 11 and 10 a.m. Divine Mercy Sunday.
