Deacon Howard Frisinger passed away on January 4th, 2018 at the age of 84. Deacon Howard ministered to the faithful at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Ft. Collins, during his ordained ministry.
Hubert Howard Frisinger II was born in Ann Arbor Michigan to Hubert and Gwendolyn Frisinger on February 28, 1933. Howard grew up around Ann Arbor converted to Catholicism at the age of 21 when he was baptized at St. Mary’s Parish in Ann Arbor on the 6th of July 1954.
He received a degree in Business and Mathematics from the University of Michigan and then entered the Air Force in 1956 where he was a meteorologist. After leaving active service, Howard became a Teaching Assistant at the University of Michigan where he went on to get his Doctorate degree. Then in 1964, he was offered a job teaching Mathematics at Colorado State University where he remained for 35 years.
On August 14, 1954, Howard married Amelia (Mim) Rinkevicz whom he had met at a dance while he was a student at the University of Michigan. Howard and Mim have three daughters, Lisa Marie, Cynthia Ann and Laura Ruth and a son, Stephen Michael., They also have six grandchildren.
On May 9, 1981, he was ordained as a Deacon in the Archdiocese of Denver by Archbishop James Casey and was immediately assigned to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. He ministered at ST. Elizabeth’s until he retired.
Deacon Howard was very involved with the parish particularly in preaching and teaching. “Deacon Howard’s humility and unassuming personality was a model for his brothers in Christ.” said Deacon Joseph Donohoe, Director of Deacon Personnel, “He also knew his suffering, particularly in his final days, were prayers which we are the beneficiaries.”
A Vigil for Deacon Howard was held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton on Monday the 8th of January 2018. Mass of Christian Burial was conducted the next day at 10:00 with an interment at Grandview Cemetery in the afternoon.
